This has nothing to do with WHERE you buy the phone. It has to do with whether or not the phone is "unlockable" and whether or not you have a universal SIM card. Google those keywords "unlockable phone" and "universal SIM card" and start educating yourself on the subject. Unless you speak Thai, how are you going to confirm this with a salesperson in Thai? They are going to tell you whatever they need to tell you to make a sale. You can buy a phone online that is unlockable and takes a universal SIM card, then you can use that phone in England or Thailand. It's better to do this online or in your home country before you travel to Thailand. The only phones that you get "cheaper" in Thailand are bootleg phones, and they aren't of the same quality of the real phones, of course.
3 :
i think ur stupid
4 :
England uses GSM bands 900/1800 and Thailand uses 900/1800/1900 so it will work. The best place to buy a phone in Thailand is the Fortune Town Mall and even if they dont speak English say unlock GSM 900/1800 they will understand. Price in Baht on the calculator negotiate. They mat even take your old phone in trade
5 :
The phone may work but you are going to pay more then if you purchase it in your own country. Check prices before you come here. All phones sold in Thailand are unlocked. Best place is MBK, 4th floor. Know what you want when you get here and go from shop to shop until you get the best deal. You will find you will over pay here and if something goes wrong with the phone and you/re in England will the phone manufacturer help get it fix.
6 :
It will work but the quality of the conversation will not be great. When you use it in England the folks you talk with will not hear you good. Why not just get a phone in England and avoid the potential problem? If you are visiting Thailand just get a cheap 2nd hand phone and sell it before you leave.
7 :
It will work. Ask the salesperson. English is spoken in just about all the shops that cater to tourist.

I took a chance and purchased an unlocked Motorola RAZR V3 for $60.00. Works fine here, and I'm hoping it will work in Thailand (when I finally get there). http://www.cellular-blowout.com/morabl.html

3 :
Actually, it CAN. If you're traveling overseas, you can call your Service Provider and ask them to unlock the phone for you so you can use it with a Service Provider while overseas. Unlocking the phone will make it compatible with any network the phone supports. GSM, GRPS, and all that... I called AT&T to unlock my Tilt so my brother could use it in South Korea, and they gave me the code without any fuss. If they offer you an international plan to lower your costs, I suggest you tell them you're making preparations to travel and are not sure of the date yet, so you don't want to make changes. That way they won't try to stick you with a plan or feature you may not need. Also, it is a good idea to put your service on "hold" while you're overseas if you plan to use another phone instead. I don't know about t-Mobile, but AT&T charges $10 a month for this, and it does not violate your service contract fulfillment.
4 :
No It wont no phone work without the same network. But if you get an uncloked phone, you can get it work all over the world with any carrier www.MyWorldPhone.com Mr.Tom Communication Specialist 718-526-0004

to know for sure, contact the international office at the school you are studying at. I think you will need a work visa because this helps the government document any money you make (it actually will count as money going to Canada because it is a separate country). For economic and governmental accounting reasons you will probably be required to get work permission from the government. good luck :-)
2 :
You have get become a citizen there. Then you have to get approved by the government so you can actually stay there.
3 :
you will need to apply for either a study visa to study or a work permit to work - you cannot have both at the same time. if you do not have a degree and some work experience or job skills, you will not qualify for a work permit.

I don't think so, I think canada is the same as the US. England is the same as Europe.
2 :
Canada uses NTSC video format, and England uses PAL. The game will not work there in England unless you have an international TV that will display both formats.
3 :
Um, there's no reason why it shouldn't. As long as the game is from an english speaking country you should be able to use it, England has the same kind of Windows as we do. Strange about this other gentleman, I've never known a television that could only play one format, every TV I'm familiar with in the states can play either NTSC or PAL.
4 :
It will not play in your PS2 unless you have a region 1 formatted system (bought from the US or Canada). Beyond the NTSC and PAL differences, games are regionally encoded the same as DVDs. Buying a game from a different region will not play in the system you have.

Your entry is a little hard to understand. Is the Magic Sing a carioke machine? I am unsure if they are called the same in England, but go to a hardware (?) store, one where tools for carpenters and builders are sold, and check on the electrical current. I do know that what we use here in the U.S. is different from what is standard in Britain and on the Continent, and you may need a converter if the Philippines uses the same current as the U.S. What you need is likely a small and not expensive adapter.
2 :
I understand that in England they are using different type of socket converter. Try to use a socket converter and also check the adaptor if there is a power (electricity) going to your microphone. We have a lots of customer in Great Britain and mostly the socket converter is the problem. Visit : www.themagicmic.com The Next Generation of Karaoke Machine
3 :
Make sure that when you are using the power adapter, there are no batteries inside the microphone. If the problem persists, create a FREE Support Ticket at www.MagicSingUSA.com and they will resolve your problem. They are the Authorized Reseller for the US.

This happens in all countries not only Britain . They are only trying to make life better for the ones they have left behind. They pay taxes don't they.
2 :
That`s a very delicate issue. I mean it`s obviously acceptable that british workers are angry about Portuguese and Italian workers taking their jobs, they don`t mind receiving less and they work the same or even more than the British, the problem is the UK are in the EU, and that`s one of the most important principals of EU, so i don`t know but maybe the UK should begin thinking of leaving EU..honestly i don`t know what to think, it`s a very difficult issue. By the way i`m portuguese and i have never been in the UK.
3 :
Because they do have the right to work in the UK. Under EU law any EU national has the right to work in any other EU country. Therefore they have every right to come and work here, just as the thousands of Brits who go to places like Spain for a new life have every right to go there. And as long as they pay British taxes they are entitled to draw child benefit and use local services - if they pay why shouldn't they take the benefit? God knows plenty of council house dwelling individuals who have never worked a day in their life demand these benefits so it's only right that the people who pay for them, regardless of their nationality, have them too.

I'm British and it's not a company I've heard of. They may have a partner in the UK which your phone will tune into automatically. But don't expect a North American phone to just work here. It probably won't. North American cellphones work on different radio wavebands from the rest of the world, so unless you have a tri-band or quad-band phone it won't find a network to tune into. It's just the same as if you have an AM only radio and take it to a country where all the radio stations use FM - it ends up being as much practical use as a brick. THIS is the real issue - so check with your company first whether you need a completely new phone. If so, you might be able to put your SIM card into it and use it normally. One possibility is just to wait until you get here, then go to a mobile phone shop such as Carphone Warehouse and buy a cheap one, either without SIM so you can insert yours, or for pay as you go on one of the British networks. It might actually be cheaper depending on what your roaming charges are compared with what the charges on a British phone might be for calling abroad. There are 4 main British networks and there's not much in it between their charges - I happen to use Vodafone. The best thing to do about a charger is just get a UK/US voltage convertor so you can plug it in to a 3 pin British socket and that should work fine. You'll need one if you bring over anything else electrical anyway.
2 :
Call Sprint and ask. There's an extra monthly charge for me to use my cell phone to call my brother in England so I can't call him from the States to the UK. I borrow a friend's phone that she purchased on line specifically to use while travelling abroad, it wasn't expensive. Then I bought a charger in England to recharge while I was there. Again, wasn't expensive.

Not, especially if it is a country like England (they speak English) You problably have to go over some work, but not all over. Why not go to a school in England? I mean, all medical school are funded by taxpayers, so take a space in England istead of here in the US (My opinion) Do know that england has national healthcare, and there are many doctors and nurses that come to the U.S. from there. UK has lost MUCh of its economic and military power. Og you still want the UK, you can. for your interest: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6958220.stm Here it is: http://www.gmc-uk.org/doctors/plab/index.asp Just More: http://www.britishcouncil.org/india-exams-plab.htm
2 :
If you complete med school and residency in the US you will not have to repeat any of your education or training to work in the UK, but you will have to pass their licensing exam (called the PLAB). It's much like the USMLE (which you will have to take in order to get your MD in the US). As with the USMLE, the first part is heavy into the Basic Sciences, so the sooner you take it the better, otherwise, those pesky formulas and such have a way of fading in memory.

Why would you think that having a Canadian passport will allow you to live and work in England? Those two matters have no logical relationship whatsoever. Like anywhere else in the world, you will have to qualify to emigrate to the UK on the basis of education, experience and whether there is a demand for whatever skills you possess. Having a Canadian passport has nothing to do with any of that. Look through http://www.ukimmigration.com/immigration_assessments.htm

I know you will need an adaptor but I read that the DS charger can burn up because in England they have different electricity outlets. 10 for best answer!
London - 2 Answers

You need an adaptor AND a converter, you can find then in travel/luggage stores
2 :
The UK uses socket outlets which are completely different from any in the USA or elswhere in Europe. In addition, the electricity supply in the UK and Europe is at 220-240 volts, so unless your charger is rated for 110-240 volts - yes, it will burn out. As a further complication, UK and Euopean electricity is supplied at 50Hz AC, whlist the USA uses 60Hz AC. This difference doesn't much matter for a battery charger since the output is converted to DC anyway, but anything American that runs on AC electricity won't work in Europe without a converter.

Can a spain voltage converter work in England?
I live in the US and have a voltage converter for Spain. I know both Spain and England use 220V
Engineering - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
The voltage converter may work but the supply in the UK can be as high as 240 volts. The sockets are 3 pin (earth, neutral & live) so you will need an adaptor to convert the European plug to a British one. All British plugs are protected by a fuse, if your Spanish voltage converter does not have one I would not recommend using it as there would be a serious risk of fire and/or electric shock especially if you use anything that draws a lot of current like a hairdryer.
2 :
If you have used it successfully in Spain then yes, it will work in England. But note that the plug used in the UK is different to the plug used in Europe, it has 3 rectangular pins instead of 2 round ones. You can get UK to Euro adapters, have a look on Ebay.

Could Carroll and Crouch work for England

Could Carroll and Crouch work for England?
Do you think Carroll and Crouch could form a working partnership or is it too much aerial force and not enough pace? England have probably never had pacier players on the flanks that can get the ball in, Is this the time to play the traditional wing play and let the hit men take teams out in the air?
English Football (Soccer) - 7 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Crouch is so overated. i think he should not be in a England shirt. maybe Carrol and Bent. or Rooney Defeo
2 :
You just voiced one of my primary concerns in your first paragraph. I have been saying for months, that Newcastle need someone fast on the ground up front to compliment Carroll, he is a powerful player with a good touch, but one thing he is NOT is QUICK. Someone like Ranger, with Ameobi ready to step in if Ranger can;t make an impact. For England, well, it isn't certain he'll play Crouch or Carroll. But i really think Abgonlahor and Carroll would go perfect together, without that quickness, it won't work... Besides, they'll both be desperate to get on the end of every ball, and when you have two giants not working together, you can't win. Pace on the wing is good, yes, but it means nothing if we don't have the speed to pick it up on the attack. The game is faster these days. Carroll to score a goal.
3 :
lone striker Carrol is best
4 :
no
5 :
don't no because it would turn into long ball game
6 :
It can work, both players are quite tall so it would be good for our wingers to get some nice crosses for them to head the ball in.
7 :
Yea it could work but it will limit England to a one dimensional game. The only pace would be coming from the wings with crosses aimed at 2 giants in the box. In a 90 minute game of football you will be lucky to have that work more than twice. Having Carroll and Bent could be an solid partnership in my opinion. But as soon as Rooney comes back, Capello would be smart to experiment with him and Carroll up front. That's 2 absolute beasts with one of them having unbelievable acceleration. Could potentially work out.

Yes - 240 and 250 volts are close enough. The UK plugs are three pins in a triangle - the pins themselves are large and rectangular.

I'm saying this from experience. No. I went last year and tried to use my cell phone charger and ipod charger with a convertor I bought from here and it wouldn't work. Then I bought two convertors from England, and even those wouldn't work. Basically I wasted my money. But there's got to be convertors that work somewhere...I don't know about games etc. though.
2 :
Yep most electronics have tolerances so u can use the American 2 pin plug product in a 3 pin UK plug converter without blowing the fuse.

You would have to gain the credentials to work in England as a teacher, You would have a good head start with a US degree but would still need to put in some time.
2 :
Do you have British citizenship? If not, try to get that, it'll help you. If you want to live there, I suggest going to uni there. You could also try to do BUNAC which would let you work there for 6 motnhs.

Will a New York marriage license work in England

Will a New York marriage license work in England?
My fiancee and I plan on getting married in New York. She's from England and I'm American. Will a New York marriage license be valid in England or will we have to apply again in the UK?
Marriage & Divorce - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
NO. You must obtain a license from the country/state/county in which you are getting married. In the US a New York license wouldn't work in Ohio. In Ohio you must obtain a license from the county in which you reside. Different states have different laws. As do different countries. HOWEVER, if you get married in the states then the marriage should be valid in England. License vs. Certificate. Permission vs. Defacto. Two different things, my friend.
2 :
Once you are married legally in the state or country that you obtain the license in, that marriage is legal in any state or country. You should not have to re-apply for a marriage license and get married again in England.
3 :
Do you mean a licence to get married or a certificate that you have been married? If you want to get married in New York, you need to get a licence to get married there from the appropriate authorities. If you want to get married in England, you need a licence from the authorities there. However, if you want to get married in New York and then want to have another religious service or ceremony in England, the English event will not have any legal standing and you do not need a licence. Indeed, you would not be able to get one because only unmarried people are granted wedding licences and you and your wife would not meet that criteria! If you want to do this, I suggest you talk to whoever you want to officiate at the British service about what you plan to do. If you're asking if your marriage in New York will be recognised legally in Britain or if you'll need to get married there too, then the answer is that you will be considered married in Britain if you've been married in the USA.

Well, it always helps to have family in w.e country your going to go to. My sister is going to study abroad and there are different programs that help you obtain a visa in colleges try looking up one of those.
2 :
I don't think that you need a visa if you want to work for less than six months. You do need a work permit, however. See the UK government website. I do not know how the schemes work.

some US uiversities have exchange programs to UK

Do american electronics work in england

Do american electronics work in england?
I might be moving there soon, so I'd like to know before I get there :] I mean, I know some stuff that doesn't need to be plugged in would work, until I need to charge it..and when that happens, can I plug stuff in there and have it work? Same question goes for tvs, computers, etc. and if it doesn't work, are there converters I can use? thanks in advance :]Thanks for all your answers. I was aware of the NTSC/PAL thing, but the dvd player we own plays both, so I guess it's more a matter of voltage? since Alex asked, here's more details on items We have a 56 inch t.v.. So, that would be nice to bring if only to not feel as if it were wasted money (it was purchased recently), with the economic situation everywhere. Plus..I like the t.v. (if necessary I could add the model number, but as it's about 2 in the morning, I don't feel like looking right now) a computer. well, a few computers, really. my dad makes them >.< (not laptops, though thanks to everyone for the info on that, I should've specified). a canon printer. a canon camera (powershot 1100 IS) an olympus camera (camedia 400 something, I think) Playstation 2. an mp3 player (charges through a usb cable or a dock, though I don't know if voltage difference would effect it? Its a Sansa e260, if that helps). Samsung flat panel monitors. epiphone amp (thoughIcouldgetanewone)

The basic answer is no. The UK uses 240 volts, the US 110 volts. Further, the UK uses different style sockets. Some equipment - for example laptop computers - can use either voltage, so all you need is a plug adaptor. If your equipment needs 110 volts, you will need to buy a transformer taht converts the voltage.
2 :
Basically, no - apart from the basic voltage difference - 110 volts in North America, 230 volts in the UK, the frequency of the electricity is 60 Hz in North America and 50 Hz in the UK, which would affect things like direct-drive motors (record decks, clocks, etc). Things like laptop computers are usually OK as they can handle 50-60 Hz and 110-240 V electricity supplies (check the labels on your laptop), and it's just a matter of getting an appropriate adaptor for the physical power plug (or get a UK connection lead to plug into your power transformer). Telephone standards are different, too, and technically it's illegal to plug anything which isn't specifically approved to the UK telephone network, like foreign modems. It's pointless bringing over TVs and VCRs/DVD players unless you want to be able to replay stuff you recorded/bought in the US. North America is DVD region 1, Europe is region 2, and DVD's bought in one won't play in machines designed for the other region. Actual TV standards are different too, US uses the NTSC colour standard, 525-line picture with 30 frames per second (half the 60 Hz electricity standard); UK uses PAL standard, 625-line picture with 25 frames per second. Digital TV standards are different too. UPDATE after you added your item list: Well, your digital cameras should be OK - batteries are one thing that thankfully are the same worldwide! Your flat-panel monitors may only need a plug adaptor as many can handle different voltages/frequencies - again, check the labels on the back! The mp3 player will be OK if you're recharging through the USB cable from a computer. I think, but I'm not sure, that docks are usually just a matter of getting the right plug. Your TV is still going to be pretty much a dead loss, though - it'll be useless for picking up local broadcasts.
3 :
In many instances you will need to use a transformer to drop the UK 230V to 110V for your equipment, but if your equipment is dual voltage, simple plug adaptors are readily available to match the US plugs to the UK square three pin sockets. The mains frequency in Europe and most of the rest of the world is 50Hz. whilst the US is 60 Hz. This makes electrically driven clocks and synchronous motors run slower than in the US. TV Broadcasting in UK uses PAL system I as against the US NTSC system M, so TV and Video devices are not going to be any use, although that does allow you to use them in conjunction with each other, for playing back your own discs and tapes provided you adapt them for UK mains voltage, but you will not be able to receive or record offair programming. US mobile phones are not compatible with the European mobile phone networks. Videos and TVs are rather large, and heavy. Wouldn't you be better off leaving yours in the US and buying UK models when you are here? Unless you have any particular domestic equipment that you need to use, the same applies: you will find even hairdryers and curling tongs can be bought fairly readily in the UK. If you have a laptop, you should be able to buy a power unit in the UK that will allow it to operate on UK mains voltage safely. It would be easier to answer the question, if you could be specific about which other electrical items you would want to bring with you.

Absolutism in England didn't work because initially it had feudal roots with the barons protecting their rights jealously, as in the Magna Carta. Later in the Civil War, Parliament, the tool used by the kings to raise taxes, had come to represent the common people as well as the lords and gave a focus for resistance against absolute rule and the protection of a much wider section of society

I don't think so. Most phones offer international calling, but those calls have to be made from the US, not from a different country. Just buy a calling card in england when you get there...those phone booths are everywhere.

If it did work the roaming charges would be horrible.

I'm not positive, but I would think so because I bought a European Sony Ericsson and used it successfully in America. It reset itself to function off of the AT&T towers here, so I imagine it would be the same in the opposite way.
5 :
It would work but seeings as it won't be out in America on pay as you go, you'd end up paying sky high roaming rates on the contract. Either buy an unlocked phone, or just get it on O2UK pay as you go.

When you are certain that you will not be working again before 6th April coming you may apply. You can always ask about earlier years, just now you may review any previous year back to 2005/06. How - well assuming you kept the P60 or P45 from each employment write to HMRC (securely staple papers together) and in the covering letter say you have finished work for the year and please could HMRC review the year with a view to a rebate.

I'm not sure if they combine them or not, but I do know if you go to med school overseas you will have to pass the exam here regardless. Yes, you can get into school in england out of high school, but it will be tough and a little expensive. You can use Stafford loans and scholarships if they have no stipulations on where the school is, but no grants. Keep in mind though, their standards can be a little higher and you have to have a certain GPA for most schools. There are several US scholarships if your grades are good enough such as the Fulbright award, you just have to do some research into those. It's not harder for Americans, the most annoying part is the passport and visa process. You could get school paid for and everything just to be denied a visa if they feel you don't have sufficent funding. Plan FAR ahead if you decide to go this route. I've been preparing to leave for grad school in London for 10 months now and it hasn't got easier and I wish I would have started earlier! Easier way? You could always do study abroad through a US college.

i guess the legal systems are differents...
2 :
I can't answer the question for Canada and other countries of the Commonwealth. There may be treaties involving that of which I am not aware. In the US, the privilege of practicing law is governed by each individual state. Each state's highest court (usually called a Supreme Court) sets the qualifications for practice. The standards vary somewhat, but usually require graduation from a law school approved by the American Bar Association. Most states make some provision for admission to practice for an attorney trained in a common-law country, (such as England). The legal system in the US is similar, but it has diverged quite a bit from its English parent. If interested in practicing in the US, you should contact the bar association of the state in which you would be living and look at the qualifications for application for admission.
