The sun is also good for complexions, so maybe the sun there is better than in cloudy england. It is also possible that you are under more stress in England, with school and stuff. Stress is bad for your skin. Try to drink a lot of water, eat healthy, and relax. That combined with a good facial cream should help your complexion

You will need both a work permit and a residence visa. But, and it's a BIG but, potential employers must advertise vacancies across the entire EC for at least 4 weeks before than can recruit beyond the EC. With over 10% unemployed it's easy to fill vacancies. For you to have any chance you must have both exceptional skills and experience to find a vacancy. Without a job to come to you will be refused a residence permit, so, realistically your idea is a non starter. Ian

You will need a work permit before you can look for work but you may have to live in UK for around 3 years before you can apply for social security benefits, in case you do not find any work.

Some visa organisation, good education, experience or a lot of money. The main question is - why on earth would you want to move a quarter of the way around the world to move to Manchester? Trust me - unless you've got a lot of dough or some serious business interests, Manchester isn't really the place for you. Even if you're loaded, everything is twice as expensive in England as it is in America. It's fine for an English person looking for new opportunities. It's not worth relocating a long way for. There's nothing here that you couldn't find so much closer to home. Unless you like freezing cold hills and snow.

I'm a registered nurse from Texas, is it possible to acquire TEMPORARY work in England

I'm a registered nurse from Texas, is it possible to acquire TEMPORARY work in England ?
Maybe for a month at a time, would I be able to get a visa for that somehow? I've heard they need nurses, and this would help me finance visits to my boyfriend who lives in Newcastle

I could ask my Mom. She is a registered nurse who teaches at a University in Texas. She is also a doctor, but she was a nurse first; therefore, she keeps her nursing license, M.D. credentials and also her teaching certification. She knows ( but she is not at all pompous) it all and I talk to her everyday. I know of one time she nursed at the US Virgin Islands St. Thomas. So if you want, I can ask her. If no one else knows, give me a note.

I am a nurse also. My daughter married a wonderful guy from Newcastle. I met an English nurse there last Feb. The pay is quite a bit less than we are use to (I live in Cleveland Oh) and the cost of living is higher too. My understanding is that they do need nurses but getting a Visa is not easy

If you were to receive an offer of employment from a company in the UK they could sponsor you for a work permit however for only a month at a time it would be very expensive and a lot of hassle. You would probably need to come here for at least 6 months to make it worthwhile.

Over in england our health service is called the NHS (National health service) but for you to work there you will need a VISA now to apply there you need to speak to BRITISH IMMAGRANTS and you will get one

I would suggest u get in touch with several outlets that has to do with journalism of course, newspapers and tvs before u make the move, maybe ur college can refer u to some. as for living here, its very busy, lots of traffic and rains most of the time :)... but it is do-able.

Are you American? If so, I hate to burst your bubble, but work permits are hard to come by, especially in a field such as journalism - there are plenty of journalists/writers in Britain, so they dont need to "import" others. Basically, for an employer to give a work permit to a foreigner, they need to pay a hefty fee on your behalf and have some reason why you can do the job better than anyone in all of the EU. The other option for living and working in the UK is something called the highly skilled migrants program which awards points for various things such as age, education and earning power. If you have enough points, you can emmigrate without a work permit and search for work. (if you go over on your visitors visa, you are not allowed to look for work). You would get a certain amount of points for being under 28 years of age and for having a degree, but being fresh out of college, your earning potential would be fairly low and that will probably keep you from qualifying for that program.
