Most common law countries give some credit for education and experience, but usually require some re-certification before the person can actually practice in the new jurisdiction. This may be a simple informal process, or it may be a bar-exam type test.

Canadian law is based on the British legal system, however, a lawyer (there are no solicitors in Canada) from England or any other Commonwealth country would have to take the bar examination before being allowed to practice law in Canada. I suspect before taking the exam an upgrade in Canadian law would be required.

You're kidding right? Is Canada a part of England?? What kind of soliciter are you if you can't see that there are differences between the laws of two different countries?
