I live in America and there's a product I would like to buy in England. However, they say they take only check or money order. Can an American Check work in England? Or do I have to buy an international money order for this purchase?

Better to go with International money order. While the company might accept the cheque, it will take a LONG time to clear and the company will probably have to pay a hefty bank fee, which reduces the amount available for your purchase. And increases the time it will take for you to receive it.
